The Dobhar-chú

The dobhar-chú is one of Ireland’s most unnerving water creatures: a giant otter-hound of lakes and riverholes, remembered through oral tradition, antiquarian notes, a carved grave slab in Leitrim, and the long fear that dangerous water may contain something larger and older than any ordinary animal.
