The Type I Planetary Civilization

The Type I planetary civilization is the first major milestone in the Kardashev scale of technological civilizations. Usually defined as a civilization able to use energy on a planetwide scale, Type I has become one of the most important frameworks in SETI, futurism, and alien-civilization theory, while later authors have debated how much raw power, planetary coordination, and ecological stability are actually required to reach it.
