Project COLDFEET mattered because it looked impossible on paper and still worked. Two American specialists parachuted onto an abandoned Soviet drift station in the Arctic, collected documents, photographs, film, and equipment samples, then were hauled off the ice by a modified B-17 using the Fulton Skyhook system.
